In 1988 I started college believing I would become a financial advisor. My life took a detour when I started telemarketing for Stephen R. Covey and his book ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Spending the next 12 years with Stephen Covey and many wonderful people helped me better understand the above quote. It helped me to pivot years later to work for one of our clients, it later helped me decide to earn an MBA, it led me to a mortgage company in Kansas and to ultimately jump feet first into becoming a financial advisor in 2008.
After 16 years as a financial advisor, I’ve learned when it comes to financial planning, “that which is common sense is not always common practice”.
